Thursday at the Cemetery #54 ~ Cedar Valley UMC Church Cemetery Part 2

This week I am honoring some of my paternal Hughes/Hayes family. There are several of my ancestors buried in this quaint cemetery located in Caldwell County, North Carolina.

I will be spending the next couple of weeks writing a bio about each one relative and posting it in a series of blogs.

John Colbert Blair, my 5th Great Uncle, was born on July 6, 1764, in Caldwell County, North Carolina. He was the son of Colbert Blair (1729-1805) and Sarah Morgan (1731-1827). His family were pioneers in what was then Burke County, but is now Caldwell County. In 1784, he married Francis Hill (1768-1853), parents unknown. They had 12 children, 11 sons and 1 daughter. John fought in the 15th regiment Captain John McKinstry’s Company in the Revolutionary War. He served as a Private. He was a farmer with a very large farm in the county. He died in 1846 at the age of 81.

Frances Hill, the wife of my 5th Great Uncle, was born on January 14, 1769, in Caldwell County, North Carolina. Her Parents are Unknown at this time. In 1784, she married John Colbert Blair (1764-1846) the son of James Blair (1715-1776) and Mary Colbert (1705-1757). They had 12 children, 11 sons and 1 daughter. She died in 1853 at the age of 85.
