Over the last week I have made quite a few new discoveries. For the most part, none of them could be considered earth-shattering. I had been focusing on filling in some the missing children of my closer ancestors. I have a bad habit of initially only adding my direct ancestors name to the line and skipping over any of their siblings. I always have great intentions to go back at some time and place those names where they belong, but days turned into weeks, etc. Then the following Newest discovery happened!
On my authors Facebook page I got an invitation to join one of the Private Group Pages that was specifically for the last name of one of my 5th Great Grandfathers. He is one of my brick walls. This prompted me to go and add the rest of his children to his branch. After doing that I decided to check out the Group Page. It was interesting, there were so many people posting information about their ancestors, but none with my Grandfathers name. So, I glanced at the list of file names that gave more information. One was “The (Last Name) Family Historical Genealogy”. So I couldn’t resist, I clicked on it. I have been told that miraculous things can happen, but I never knew it could be found in the Genealogy realm! I sincerely hope that you take the next portion of this blog in the spirit in which it is offered. I have taken great pains to word this in a way so as not to embarrass anyone, especially the person who posted this file in that group page.
I have heard of some people tracing their ancestors back to 1000 A.D. I even heard of one person who traced their ancestry back to Noah! Well, it’s official, I now know someone who has not only traced their ancestors but mine as well, all the way back to Adam! We descend from his son Seth’s line.
There was page after page, beginning with Adam, carefully listing each generation. I saw the names Noah, then Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and the first 26 lines ended with Moses! Each line after this was broken up a little differently but the next 10 generations takes us through the daughter of Ramsees II and on to the Kings of Ireland! I wonder wear my crown is?
The next 15 generations contain 15 more Irish Kings.
Then we jump into the Scottish Clans and here we are to about 1176 B.C.! In the next 2 generations the ancestors were both Knights Templars, and they were both killed in the 7th Crusade. The next 15 generations were all Scottish Lords. At the end of the lineage they had posted the following statement:
After that there was a link to the rest of the line but the link was broken so I couldn’t view it.
I know you may think this blog may sound a tad sarcastic, and you would be right. This newest discovery is an example of why documentation and sourcing are so important! You can claim anything, but can you prove it? Like they say:
Genealogy without documentation is Mythology!
