Picture Perfect Saturday #10 ~ My Twin Aunts and an Uncle

Picture Perfect logoI am currently working on my Family Genealogy Group page for Facebook. In doing so I realized I have a tremendous amount of photos. I decided to feature one a week. No, not everyone is “perfect” however, they are to me!

Ellie & Nellie1

This week I am showcasing this photo of my twin Aunt’s and their next younger brother, my Uncle. My Grandparents had a total of 11 children. There were 2 girls and 2 boys born before them and 1 girl and 3 boys born after them.

Ellie Belle and Nellie Belle Hughes were born on February 5, 1910, in Hughesville, Pettis County, Missouri. Leonard Monroe Hughes was born on April 30, 1913, also in Hughesville. I received this photo about 7 years ago from a cousin, and I was so thrilled to get it. I absolutely adore the girls’ dresses and the bows in their hair. They are about 4 years old here. I have to admit I was surprised at first to find the “cute little girl” in front was my Uncle! I knew they dressed boys like this back then but it caught me off guard. He is about 1 year old here. They all have such a cute, bewildered look on their face.

All 3 were married twice. Ellie and her first husband had 7 children and she had none with her second husband. She died on February 25, 1973, in Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 63. Nellie and her first husband had one daughter, and she had two sons with her second husband. She died on June 5, 1977, in Muskegon, Michigan at the age of 67. Leonard and his first wife had 3 children and he had none with the second wife. He died on September 8, 2003, in Lexington, Missouri at the age of 90.
